Recap: Southern Wells Raiders vs. Smith Academy Fighting 54th
The Southern Wells Raiders had to endure a six-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They took their match on the road on Saturday with ease, bagging a 61-30 win over Smith Academy. Southern Wells' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for Chandler Oswalt, who scored 20 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for him. Cj Reber was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Southern Wells' win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-4. As for Smith Academy, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern Wells will be home for the holidays to greet Southwood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwood is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Smith Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lakewood Park Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
