Basketball Recap: Riley Warren's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southern Alamance over Eastern Alamance

Southern Alamance was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the Eastern Alamance Eagles, falling 75-53. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 511th, while the Eagles are ranked 171st).

Southern Alamance's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Warren, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Warren has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Gilley, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 10 points and six rebounds.

Ja'Vier Tinnin was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double with 18 points, 12 boards, and 11 assists for Eastern Alamance. Nate Robinson was another key player, going 7-for-13 en route to 22 points.

Southern Alamance's loss dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Eastern Alamance, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Looking ahead, Southern Alamance will take on Western Alamance at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Western Alamance has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 191 points over their last three matches. As for Eastern Alamance, they will square off against Orange at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Alamance knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 contests -- so hopefully Orange likes a good challenge.
