Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Washington

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Washington and Limestone, and Washington kept the tradition alive. The Panthers walked away with a 4-1 win over the Rockets on Monday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Carter Prina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Washington's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Lawrence, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Sam Peters also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Limestone only posted an OBP of .185.

Washington pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Limestone, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.

Washington will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rockets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
