Basketball Game Preview: Honesdale Hornets vs. Dunmore Bucks

The Honesdale Hornets will venture away from home to take on the Dunmore Bucks at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Dunmore took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Honesdale, who comes in off a win.

Honesdale took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They secured a 57-52 W over Mid Valley.

Meanwhile, Dunmore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-56 heartbreaker at the hands of Holy Cross. While losing is never fun, the Bucks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Crusaders are ranked 19th).

Honesdale is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Dunmore, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Honesdale came up short against Dunmore in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 67-60. Can Honesdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
