Basketball Game Preview: Mayfield Wildcats vs. West Geauga Wolverines

The Mayfield Wildcats will head out to take on the West Geauga Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mayfield will be strutting in after a victory while West Geauga will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Mayfield turned things around against Riverside on Saturday. They managed a 39-35 win over the Beavers.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 66-35, which was the final score in West Geauga's tilt against Richmond Heights on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost three in a row.

West Geauga's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Mayfield, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Everything went Mayfield's way against West Geauga when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Mayfield made off with a 74-49 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mayfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
