Softball Recap: Polk County Wildcats vs. Loudon Redskins
Polk County lost against Loudon back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Polk County fell just short of Loudon by a score of 3-1. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mallie Evans was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
Evans wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Pike, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base. Pike has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Polk County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Loudon, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Polk County will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Roane County at 6:00 p.m. on April 1. As for Loudon, they will face off against McMinn Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
