Basketball Recap: Poudre Falls Despite Big Games from Kavi Voglund and Maggie Foster

Poudre lost against Windsor back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Poudre Impalas lost to the Windsor Wizards on the road by a 49-32 margin. While losing is never fun, the Impalas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Wizards are ranked 16th).

Poudre's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Maggie Foster, who posted seven points and six boards, and Kavi Voglund, who had ten points. Foster is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games she's played. Matea Burdick was another key player, putting up five points.

Even though they lost, Poudre smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Windsor was led to victory by Reyleigh Hess and Gracie Worlsey. Hess went 7-for-9 on her way to 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Worlsey put up ten points. Another player making a difference was Nola Greenwald, who earned 11 points.

Poudre's record now sits at 8-12. As for Windsor, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Poudre didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-37 loss against Rocky Mountain on the 14th. As for Windsor, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-23 victory against Fort Collins on the 14th.
