Volleyball Recap: Jaelyn Brady's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tigerton over Port Edwards

After flying high against Bowler on Thursday, Tigerton came back down to earth. The Tigers fell just short of the Port Edwards Blackhawks by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Tigers have struggled against the Blackhawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Tigerton took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 16-25, 27-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-10.

Tigerton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaelyn Brady, who had 26 digs and four aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 18 or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Renata Nordwig, who had 14 digs and seven aces.

Port Edwards' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hayden Kleifgen, who had 22 digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave Kleifgen a new career-high in kills (two). Valedia Hernandez was another key player, getting eight digs and three aces.

Tigerton's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Port Edwards, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.

Tigerton has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Marion on the 23rd. As for Port Edwards, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Wild Rose on the 23rd.
