Softball Recap: Warren East Comes Up Short

Warren East extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 19-9 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Heritage Hills Patriots. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2019.

Addison Lee was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Jordan Brooks was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As for Heritage Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games.

On Heritage Hills' side, Mia Kiegel made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Kiegel has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Lexi Lubbehusen was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Wargel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Coincidentally, Warren East and Heritage Hills will both be playing Daviess County the next time they take the field. The Raiders will head out to face the Panthers at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, while the Patriots will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
