Soccer Game Preview: Streator/Woodland vs. Ottawa

The Streator/Woodland Bulldogs will take on the Ottawa Pirates at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Streator/Woodland has given up an average of 4.4 goals per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Streator/Woodland's offense. They came up short against Herscher on Thursday, falling 8-0. Streator/Woodland haven't had much luck with Herscher recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ottawa, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand DePue a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for Ottawa in their matchups with DePue: they've now won seven in a row.

Ottawa's offense was hitting DePue from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Ayla Covalsky led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Ottawa's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Streator/Woodland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Streator/Woodland was able to grind out a solid win over Ottawa in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 2-0. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
