Recap: Providence Prep Rams vs. St. Mary's
In what's become a running theme this season, the Providence Prep Rams gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 69-37 victory over St. Mary at home. Winning may never get old, but Providence Prep sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Asa Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maddox Billman, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Zimmerhanzel. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points. That was a full 59.5% of St. Mary's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Providence Prep is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Providence Prep will head out on the road to face off against the at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Academy is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Rams a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for St. Mary's, they and the Soldiers will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
