Basketball Recap: Tanque Verde Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Tanque Verde unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Willcox Cowboys and fell 60-28. If the Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 55-26 to the Cowboys when the teams met back in January of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Willcox has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Tanque Verde will head out on the road to take on Benson at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats' defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so the Hawks' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Willcox, they will take on Shadow Mountain in a tournament on Friday.
