Softball Recap: Masconomet Regional Gets the Win

Masconomet Regional's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Marblehead Magicians a 1-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Chieftains: when they faced off against the Magicians on April 2nd, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

Not much got past Sydnee Vocino, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Marblehead off the board. Vocino has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Masconomet Regional's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sabrina Caferelli, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

The win got Masconomet Regional back to even at 5-5. As for Marblehead, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Masconomet Regional will take on Gloucester at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Marblehead, they will square off against Boston Latin Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
