Basketball Game Preview: Hampton Bulldogs vs. Chuckey-Doak Black Knights

Hampton is 9-1 against Chuckey-Doak since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hampton Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Chuckey-Doak Black Knights at 8:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hampton has four straight victories, Chuckey-Doak has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Chuckey-Doak better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Hampton really get things going. Everything went Hampton's way against West Greene on Tuesday as Hampton made off with a 63-41 win. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Hampton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Nave, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Nave a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Davenport, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 16 points.

Meanwhile, Chuckey-Doak had to suffer through a 63-24 loss at the hands of South Greene. While losing is never fun, the Black Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while the Rebels are ranked 105th).

Hampton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Chuckey-Doak, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.

Everything came up roses for Hampton against Chuckey-Doak when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured an 81-43 victory. In that game, Hampton amassed a halftime lead of 49-27, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
