Volleyball Recap: Mundelein Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Mundelein couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the New Trier Trevians by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Mundelein sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-20, 20-25, 25-19.

Kevin Mann paced Mundelein's offense, picking up 15 kills. Mann got some help from Zack Nocera and his 33 assists.

Mundelein's loss dropped their record down to 29-5. As for New Trier, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-10 record this season.

Mundelein does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Trier, they will take on Lake Zurich at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bears will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Trevians surely won't give up without a fight.
