Softball Recap: Owen Valley Takes a Loss

Owen Valley came into this matchup off a tough 16-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Monrovia Bulldogs by a score of 10-8 on Thursday. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Tinsley Monroe made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Mallory Tamplin also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Owen Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Monrovia, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.

Owen Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-4 loss against North Daviess on the 15th. As for Monrovia, they will host Mooresville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
