Softball Recap: Forest Grove Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Forest Grove extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 17-6 in the process. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Century Jaguars 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 back in April.

As for Century, they dropped their record down to 9-14 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Century's part, Alyssa Loza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. Loza has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Century saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jessie Henry, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Looking ahead, Forest Grove will welcome Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Century, they will head out on the road to face off against Glencoe at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crimson Tide's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
