Soccer Game Preview: Loyola Academy vs. New Trier

Loyola Academy hasn't had much luck against New Trier recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Ramblers will head out to face off against the Trevians at 7:00 p.m.

Loyola Academy had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the seven-goal drubbing they dealt De La Salle on Tuesday. The Ramblers blew past the Meteors 9-2. That looming 9-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Loyola Academy yet this season.

Meanwhile, New Trier faced Libertyville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Trevians and the Wildcats finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw. New Trier's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Loyola Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those seven matchups. New Trier's draw gives them a new season record of 10-0-2.

Loyola Academy couldn't quite get it done against New Trier when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Ramblers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
