Grecia De La Garza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Turner saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Serrano, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Reedy came tearing into Friday's game with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Trojans a 16-0 shutout. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Addison Daudelin looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Reedy let Natalie Deen and Mady Kulp run wild. Deen went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Kulp went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Madeline Carson, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Reedy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .325 or higher in 12 consecutive contests.
Reedy pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Turner, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Reedy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Turner has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Reedy, though, as they've been averaging only 2.7 strikeouts. Will Turner keep running through batters, or will Reedy buck the trend?
