Baseball Recap: Evangelical Christian Gets the Win

While Evangelical Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the St. George's Gryphons 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 10th.

Evangelical Christian got a great performance from Bennett Edwards as he struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Edwards has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Kyle Mabie was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Bradley Smith also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Evangelical Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for St. George's, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evangelical Christian will venture away from home to face off against Christian Brothers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. George's, they will head out to square off against Lausanne Collegiate at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
