Softball Recap: Chambers Cougars vs. Mallard Creek Mavericks

Chambers had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-12-1 to make it six. They came up short against the Mallard Creek Mavericks, falling 17-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 back in March.

As for Mallard Creek, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Mallard Creek's part, Madison Williams was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Williams was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cecelia Aurelio and Le Nique Luckett did most of the damage at the plate: Aurelio got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Luckett got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
