Lakeside waltzed into their match on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Colville Crimson Hawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 on Saturday.

Cy Reeves made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Lakeside is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise. Reeves was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kannon Almond was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Lakeside is undefeated when Almond posts two or more stolen bases, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Clayton Pavlin, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Lakeside hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Lakeside's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Colville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Lakeside will have a chance to go back-to-back against Colville: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
