Softball Recap: Glencoe Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Glencoe ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Oregon City Pioneers 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Crimson Tide have posted since May 20, 2024.

Lexi Brester spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kalli Farrimond was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makena Petrick, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Glencoe is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Oregon City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Glencoe will venture away from home to square off against Lebanon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crimson Tide are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Oregon City, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Dallas at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pioneers 3.9, the Dragons 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
