Basketball Recap: Cedar Piles Up the Points Against Hurricane

There's no place like home for Cedar, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Hurricane Tigers 69-29. Given the Reds' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Tigers are ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Hurricane saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Laynee Walker posted 16 points and six boards.

Cedar is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Hurricane, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Cedar didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-60 defeat against Desert Hills on the 23rd. Hurricane has also already played their next contest (against Dixie), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
