Baseball Recap: John Vuraich Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Streetsboro

Streetsboro typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Villa Angela-St. Joseph proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 2-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Henry Gonakis was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 7.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Villa Angela-St. Joseph is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-10 otherwise. Gonakis was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Gonakis wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was John Vuraich, who went 3-for-6 with one run. Max Gembus also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Villa Angela-St. Joseph's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Streetsboro, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.

As of now, neither Villa Angela-St. Joseph nor the Rockets have any future games scheduled.
