Baseball Recap: Upper Dublin's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Upper Dublin dropped their record down to 5-4-1 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Quakertown Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Quakertown, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

For Quakertown's part, they got a great performance from Jarred Housten as he struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Housten has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Quakertown let Cole Reich and Carter Tucholski run wild. Reich went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Tucholski went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Reich is becoming a predictor of Quakertown's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-0-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Nick DePiero also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

While Upper Dublin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
