Baseball Game Preview: Vandercook Lake Jayhawks vs. Michigan Center Cardinals

Vandercook Lake is 0-5 against Michigan Center since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Jayhawks will look to defend their home field against the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. Vandercook Lake has given up an average of 12.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Vandercook Lake is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 17-2 to Hanover-Horton.

Vandercook Lake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Todd Atkins, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Atkins has snagged this season.

Meanwhile, Michigan Center posted their closest win since May 20, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past East Jackson 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cardinals.

Michigan Center also got a great performance from Landon Sharp as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over six innings pitched.

At the plate, Levi Layher was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Vandercook Lake's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Michigan Center, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-14-1.

Vandercook Lake might still be hurting after the 22-0 defeat they got from Michigan Center in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can the Jayhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
