Baseball Game Preview: Sage Creek Bobcats vs. Mt. Carmel Sundevils

Sage Creek is 0-4 against Mt. Carmel since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bobcats will host the Sundevils at 4:00 p.m. The last three games Sage Creek has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Saturday, Sage Creek didn't have quite enough to beat San Pasqual and fell 3-2.

Sage Creek saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Rangel, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mt. Carmel, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on El Camino with a sharp 11-2 win on Friday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Sundevils' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Shane Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nate Godbold, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Bryce Miller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Sage Creek's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Mt. Carmel, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.

Sage Creek came up short against Mt. Carmel when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
