Softball Recap: Gainesville Comes Up Short

Gainesville extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-8. They came up short against the Aubrey Chaparrals, falling 11-1. The Leopards were not able to make up for their loss to the Chaparrals from their previous meeting back in April of 2022.

Gainesville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Foster, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

As for Aubrey, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.

On Aubrey's side, the team relied heavily on Abby Lynch-Buxton, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and five RBI. Those two triples gave Lynch-Buxton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Mulhern, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gainesville will venture away from home to square off against Legacy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Aubrey, they will head out to challenge Sanger at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
