Basketball Game Preview: New Iberia Yellowjackets vs. Franklin Hornets

New Iberia is 4-0 against Franklin since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. It'll be a Battle of the Bugs the New Iberia Yellowjackets face off against the Franklin Hornets at 11:00 a.m.

New Iberia's tournament run continued when they took on Zachary on Thursday. New Iberia fell 51-38 to Zachary. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Broncos are ranked second).

Meanwhile, Franklin didn't have too much trouble with Comeaux on Thursday as they won 53-38. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

New Iberia dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Franklin, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

New Iberia was able to grind out a solid victory over Franklin in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 69-59. Does New Iberia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Franklin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
