Softball Recap: Notre Dame Extends Winning Streak to 13

Notre Dame put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Live Oak Eagles 11-5. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Madaline Johnson tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Malayna Daigle was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kenley Sonnier was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Notre Dame kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matches.

Notre Dame's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Live Oak, they moved to 8-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Notre Dame will host St. Edmund at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Live Oak, they will be playing at home against Hahnville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
