Magdalena hadn't done well against Logan recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Steers put the hurt on the Longhorns with a sharp 12-1 win. Considering the Steers have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Josiah Candelaria made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mathew Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Josh Vigil was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

Magdalena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in eight consecutive matchups.

Magdalena pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Logan, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Magdalena beat the Longhorns by a score of 15-2 later that day.
