Basketball Recap: St. John's/Tipton Catholic Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

St. John's/Tipton Catholic and Linn squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but St. John's/Tipton Catholic had to settle for second. They took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Linn Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Blujays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 47th).

St. John's/Tipton Catholic lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lynelle Gengler, who posted 17 points and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Carlie Brummer was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

The defeat snapped St. John's/Tipton Catholic's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 14-8 record. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.2 points.
