The West Davidson Dragons will square off against the Providence Grove Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If West Davidson beats Providence Grove with ten runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Dragons didn't even let Wheatmore on the board on Tuesday, marking the Dragons' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.
Hannah Rollins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since April 1st.
In other batting news, Gracie Michael was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Natalie Wilson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
West Davidson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wheatmore only posted a batting average of .059.
Providence Grove came out on top against East Davidson on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Patriots blew past the Golden Eagles 12-2.
Callie Lambert was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. Another player making a difference was Adi Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
Providence Grove's victory bumped their record up to 16-9. As for West Davidson, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.
West Davidson beat Providence Grove 6-3 in their previous matchup on April 2nd. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
