Basketball Recap: Balboa Comes Up Short

If Balboa was feeling good fresh off their 91-52 takedown of Downey Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Balboa Roughriders fell 76-69 to the Winston Salem Christian National Lions on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Balboa still got an impressive performance from BwaBwa Josue, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Promise Otunu, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Adriel Nyorha continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Winston Salem Christian National, putting up 17 points. Another player making a difference was Josiah Johnson-Freeman, who posted 13 points.

Balboa has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Winston Salem Christian National, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.

Balboa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 85-84 defeat against Accelerated Prep on the 8th. As for Winston Salem Christian National, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-27 win against Charlotte Elite Academy on the 11th.
