Football Recap: Lawton Starts Season with Win on the Road

Lawton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the Decatur Raiders with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 24-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Blue Devils' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Raiders are ranked 291st).

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Greyson Burrous and Hudson Merriman. Burrous gained 113 total yards and a touchdown while Merriman rushed for 44 yards and one score.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawton will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Ithaca at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Decatur, they will host Bronson at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. The contest will give the Raiders their first taste of in-conference action this season.
