Softball Game Preview: Darien Blue Wave vs. New Canaan Rams

The Darien Blue Wave will square off against the New Canaan Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Darien took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They never let Bridgeport Central get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Wave in their matchups with the Hilltoppers: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, New Canaan waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Senators as they made off with a 17-0 win. The Rams' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Darien's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for New Canaan, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

Darien was able to grind out a solid win over New Canaan when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. Will the Blue Wave repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
