Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Xandria Johnson and Tiffany Garza Lead Rivera to Victory

After losing to San Benito the last time they met, Rivera decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Raiders walked away with a 2-0 win over the Greyhounds on Friday.

Leading Rivera to victory were Tiffany Garza and Xandria Johnson. Garza had seven digs and three assists, while Johnson had 12 kills. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season.

Rivera has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for San Benito, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Rivera has already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Weslaco on the 30th. As for San Benito, they will face off against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
