Football Game Preview: Cook Hornets vs. Pierce County Bears + How To Watch

Cook is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing at home against the Pierce County Bears at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Cook is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Irwin County, posting a 38-0 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Hornets considering their 12-point performance the matchup before.

Cook can attribute much of their success to Dawson Davis, who rushed for 110 yards and one TD on only eight carries, and Mj Tippins, who gained 62 total yards and two touchdowns. Davis got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 80 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cook was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, Pierce County strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their defense stepped up to hand Vidalia a 21-0 shutout. Considering the Bears have won four games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Pierce County's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Cook, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Cook was dealt a bruising 42-7 defeat at the hands of Pierce County when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Hornets, Caden McGatha (who threw for 273 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 150 yards and one score while picking up 7.9 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
