Recap: Strayhorn Mustangs vs. Potts Camp Cardinals
If The Strayhorn Mustangs were feeling good off their 26-0 takedown of the Coffeeville Pirates last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Strayhorn fell just short of Potts Camp by a score of 23-20. Strayhorn lost against Potts Camp in their previous head to head back in September of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 27-21 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Strayhorn lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Hayden Alsup. Despite the final result, he rushed for 256 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown.
Strayhorn has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Potts Camp, the win was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Strayhorn does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Potts Camp will head out on the road to face off against Coffeeville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Coffeeville: they have been struggling with seven straight losses at home, while Potts Camp has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
