Softball Recap: Central Falls Takes a Loss

Central Falls had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it four. They lost 16-0 to the Shea Raiders. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 23-11.

As for Shea, the win got them back to even at 8-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Shea's part, Taylor Kane made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Kane a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Shea let Laurel Christian and Clara Perez run wild. Christian got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Perez went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Perez has been hot recently, having posted four or more RBI the last three times she's played. Gianna Quinones was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Falls will host Narragansett at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mariners will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Shea, they will face off against Exeter-West Greenwich at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
