Basketball Recap: Illini West Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Illini West hadn't done well against Camp Point Central recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Illini West Chargers took down the Camp Point Central Panthers 42-23. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Panthers are ranked 613th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Illini West to victory were Wesley Robertson and Ethan Carlisle. Robertson almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards, while Carlisle posted 12 points.

Illini West pushed their record up to 19-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points over those games. As for Camp Point Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 15 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Illini West will take on Bushnell-Prairie City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Camp Point Central, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers face off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
