Recap: Laurel Spartans vs. Flowers Jaguars

The Laurel Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Flowers on the road and fell 56-14. Laurel was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-5.

Flowers' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alana Joy, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals. Joy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Skye Blakeney was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Laurel bumped their record down to 2-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.3 points per game. As for Flowers, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Laurel will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Eleanor Roosevelt at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully Eleanor Roosevelt focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Monday. As for Flowers, they will head out on the road to face off against DuVal at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. DuVal is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
