Football Recap: Maranatha Christian Eagles vs. Hoover Cardinals
If Maranatha Christian was feeling good off their 48-0 takedown of Nuview Bridge last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Maranatha Christian Eagles had to suffer through a 31-2 loss at the hands of the Hoover Cardinals. The Eagles have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Maranatha Christian wouldn't let Hoover keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Aaron Tasin was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2023.
Sir Autry had an outrageously good game for Hoover as he rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also picked up 35 receiving yards and a touchdown. Autry's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 137 rushing yards dating back to last season. Hoover also got help from Ahmad Rashad Lll, who showed off his sure hands for 146 receiving yards.
Having lost for the first time this season, Maranatha Christian fell to 2-1. As for Hoover, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
Maranatha Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Victory Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Maranatha Christian focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Thursday. As for Hoover, they will take on Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
