Basketball Recap: Mid-Carolina Comes Up Short

Mid-Carolina's tournament run continued when they took on Irmo on Friday. The Mid-Carolina Rebels came up short against the Irmo Yellow Jackets, falling 42-21. The matchup marked the Rebels' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Leading Irmo to victory were Janiyah Stokes and Lailah Singletary. Stokes went 5 for 7 on her way to 12 points, while Singletary posted eight points in addition to five assists and four steals. Stokes is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was La?Nee McCutchen, who put up seven points and nine boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Mid-Carolina and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Irmo, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Mid-Carolina didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-36 defeat against Chapin on the 28th. As for Irmo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 75-11 win against Newberry on the 28th.
