Baseball Game Preview: Bullitt East Chargers vs. Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers

Bullitt East is 1-8 against Pleasure Ridge Park since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Chargers will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 12:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bullitt East barely beat South Oldham the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chargers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Dragons a 7-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Chargers have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Bullitt East got a great performance from Bryce Abrahamson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Abrahamson a new career-high.

At the plate, Hunter Holland was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Chase Meredith was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Pleasure Ridge Park sidestepped Butler for a 3-2 victory. The three-run effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The win made it two in a row for Pleasure Ridge Park and bumps their season record up to 12-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Bullitt East, their win bumped their record up to 10-3-1.
