The Johnson Central Golden Eagles will take on the Pike County Central Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Johnson Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Johnson Central after they put the first runs on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Kaneland by a score of 5-4.

Keylee Blair spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Johnson Central saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shelby Arnett, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Arnett also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Another was Mayson Delong, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Pike County Central came into Thursday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Wahama on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Pike County Central's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Johnson Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Johnson Central took their victory against Pike County Central in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 18-1 score. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
