Basketball Game Preview: Montgomery Cougars vs. Monroe Township Falcons

The Montgomery Cougars will face off against the Monroe Township Falcons on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Montgomery has five straight victories, Monroe Township has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Montgomery had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 22-point drubbing they dealt Egg Harbor Township on Friday. Everything went Montgomery's way against Egg Harbor Township as Montgomery made off with a 73-51 win. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Eagles are ranked 169th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Monroe Township came up short against Piscataway on February 5th and fell 58-50.

Monroe Township's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Montgomery, their victory bumped their record up to 19-4.

Montgomery took their win against Monroe Township when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 63-37. Will Montgomery repeat their success, or does Monroe Township have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
