Softball Recap: Hillcrest Extends Winning Streak to Four

Hillcrest entered their tilt with Greenville on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Red Raiders a 1-0 shutout. Give the Rams' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

The result came thanks to Olivia Baker's shutout, as she gave up just two hits.

At the plate, Hillcrest's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Skyla Benton, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Hillcrest pushed their record up to 12-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Greenville, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10-1.

Looking ahead, Hillcrest will take on Easley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Green Wave have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.88 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greenville, they will face off against Mauldin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Raiders are facing the Mavericks at the right time seeing as the Mavericks are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
