Baseball Game Preview: Estancia Eagles vs. Century Centurions

The Estancia Eagles will square off against the Century Centurions at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Neither Estancia nor Century posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Estancia fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Costa Mesa on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-2.

Estancia got a good showing from Lincoln Silva, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Silva has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Estancia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Humphries, who went 2-for-5 with one triple. Another was Jacob Ramirez, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Century came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory.

Century pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Estancia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Everything went Estancia's way against Century when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Estancia made off with a 9-0 win. Will Estancia repeat their success, or does Century has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
